1st Anniversary Reflection
Today is the 1st Anniversary of my ordination as a Permanent Deacon in the Catholic Church. It has been an amazing year of learning. I reflect on the joy of presiding at baptisms especially baptizing my fourth granddaughter in London.
I think of the excitement of presiding at Word and Communion Services at various parish churches across Trinidad especially in the St Joseph valley and the anxiety before delivering each homily.
I thank God for the gift of being able to comfort those in their time of grief at each funeral I conducted. I also fondly remember my efforts with campus ministry and the university students I was blessed to meet.
It has been a fulfilling year in diaconate ministry, the start of a new stage of my journey in the Life of the Spirit. As I look forward to my second year I wonder what new opportunities divine providence will present to spread the Word of God.
When I embarked on this ministry six years ago at the age of 61years I was concerned that I was too old . Yet here I am a year into ministry with the promise of another year ahead to build the kingdom of God on earth.
I encourage each one regardless of age to put out your boat into the deep and answer God’s call to his service. As I look forward I have set myself the goal to achieve 10,000 total combined, cumulative engagement with all my social media spreading of the Word of God. Please pray for me to attain it and help me in whatever way you can.
