A Week of Healing
Greetings and blessings as we start a new week. I pray that you would have a truly wonderful week of joy. Know that Jesus loves you and your family. This week’s Gospel is Jesus curing a leper Mark 1: 40-45 and it opens us to a week of healing. We bring to Jesus, this week, all those aspects of our lives that are in need of healing - family members, illnesses, financial challenges, anxiety at work, fears and worries.
Jesus is saying in the Gospel that he wants to heal us ‘I do want to…’. he knows of our challenges and is empathetic. This week he is stretching out his hand to heal us of whatever is oppresing us, if we have faith and humility, like the leper in this week’s Gospel.
And if you doubt you have the faith, be like the father of the boy with the unclean spirit in Mark 9: 24, when Jesus asked him why does he doubt - he cried out ‘I do believe, but help the little faith I have’
I met a senior, joyful lady after service on Sunday. She was waiting for me at the door. She said ‘in your homily you mentioned that when we receive healing, we must bear testimony, well I am bearing witness today, because Jesus has healed me of a serious illness. Praise God!
I met another lady earlier in the week, she also was waiting on me after service. She greeted me and told me of her oppression - a grandson who is experiencing mental illness and a daughter diagnosed with an illness. This week I pray and claim healing for our sister and her family. May Jesus stretch out his hand and heal her family of their troubles.
Know that Jesus loves us and he has adopted us to be his brothers and sisters. He wants us to claim our family membership. Jesus wants what is good for his family and he is a miracle and wonder worker.
Jesus as we begin this week in which we contemplate on your healing of the leper, we praise you for your mercy and compassion. Please have mercy on us and stretch out your hand to touch and heal us of our various illnesses, challenges and oppressions.
