Welcome to Episode 8 of Contemplative Cottage Gardening in which I attempt to create a woodpile. It is also my first attempt to create a video episode.
A woodpile is a gardening feature designed to support the health and biodiversity of the garden. It serves several roles :- a wildlife habitat for insects, lizards and ground birds. As the wood decays, it becomes a powerhouse for nutrient cycling, facilitating fungal growth and organic matter that improves the garden’s overall fertility.
I believe it contributes to our contemplation by creating a deeper connection with nature.
