How to Trust in Jesus and rid yourself from Anxiety and Pain.
35 The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. 36 When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!”
37 When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. 38 Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, “What do you want?”
They said, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”
39 “Come,” he replied, “and you will see.”
So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon. John 1:35-39
Just as John the Baptist disciples, Jesus is also pointed out to us, by family, friends and acquaintences. I can remember the persons in my life who pointed out Jesus to me…starting with my primary school religious teacher, then clergy and lay ministers, at different stages of my life. They all said to me, in their own way, ‘Look, the Lamb of God’. Can you remember the persons in your life who pointed out Jesus to you?
The challenge when Jesus is pointed out to us is - do we then, like the disciples, follow Jesus? Or do we just acknowledge the information and stay put? If we do follow him, he will surely turn around and ask - ‘What do you want?’ and ‘Come, and you will see (where I Am staying).’ I can attest that at different stages of my life, I followed Him and stayed with Him. I hope you can say that yourself. If not - it is not too late.
Staying with Jesus is life giving in so many ways:
We get Spiritual Fulfillment experiencing a deep sense of purpose, peace, joy, and meaning to life. The teachings of Jesus, as found in the Bible, can be a guide for living a moral and purposeful life.
We experience Forgiveness as Jesus sacrificed himself for the forgiveness of our sins. It provides us with relief and a fresh start which can be a powerful source of healing and renewal.
We experience Community and Fellowship being part of a faith community that shares common beliefs and values provides support, encouragement, and belonging which can contribute to our overall well-being.
We experience Hope and Assurance this hope can be a source of strength during difficult times helping us navigate life's challenges and make decisions that align with virtues.
We experience a Transformative Power giving us positive attitudes, behaviors, and perspectives on life.
I encourage you, if you are not already experiencing these benefits in life, to follow Jesus and ask Him to stay with Him. Life in today’s world can be so burdensome, filled with anxiety and pain.
Staying with him can involve, reading the bible, starting with small excerpts of the Gospels, each day. Begin a personal relationship with Him, like the disciples, by starting a conversation, talking intimately about your dream, fears, hurts, anxiety and pain, regularly thoughout the day. Quieting your mind from the constant flow of thoughts to listen to him, speaking in your heart. And trusting in Jesus Christ to solve all your problems in his own way in due course, starting immediately.
