Mountain Top Week Summary
This week we reflected on Jesus’ transfiguration and the impact it had on his chosen companions. We liked their experience to what is today referred to as a ‘Mountain Top’ experience. We explored the meanings of our own ‘Mountain Top’ experiences
Monday
A ‘Mountain Top’ experience is one in which we come in contact with a life changing moment. It is a moment in which we relate with Jesus in a new more meaningful way. Moments when one comes to know Jesus in a new more intimate way. He comes into our lives like a physical presence. We know him better. We realised that he is walking with us.
Tuesday
These experiences help us to be spiritually prepared for the trials and tribulations we have to face in our own lives. In moments of doubt, difficulties and challeges we can call on these these memories, to give us consolation that Jesus is in charge and all will be well. They act as a store house of spiritual treasures that we can call on from time to time, when I need them.
Wednesday
We cannot manufacture or control mountain top experiences but there are practices and attitudes that can create fertile ground for such experiences to occur. Regular Prayer and Meditation open us up to the possibility of encountering God in intense ways. By setting aside dedicated time for quiet reflection and communion with the Holy Spirit, we create space for spiritual insights and revelations to emerge.
Thursday
Just as the Transfiguration marked a pinnacle of spiritual revelation, it also carries valuable lessons about the descent from such transformative encounters. We are challenged to integrate the learnings into our lives. This requires conscious effort to apply the lessons learned and live out our faith authentically.
Friday
Take time to reflect on the mountain top experience and identify the key insights, lessons, or revelations gained. Consider how these insights can be integrated into your daily life, relationships, work, and spiritual practices. I suggest using a journal to capture your thoughts and make a plan to incorporate these insights into your daily living.
