That is so true of world media. They sound so monolithic and superficial. Yet, being here in London, a place noted for their love of reading, the media is very diverse. The quality of journalism is much higher than I see on YouTube and the major news channels. But your point still remains relevant, a lack of dealing with the real issues of our time.
I find there’s a lot of venting, banter and just plain, silly news reports, nowadays. and of course rich people who have their own platform like X or Trump‘s truth platform they can say whatever they want and mainstream media keeps repeating it like a flock of sheep.
This is unfortunate because this noise hides what are more serious issues to tackle like poverty, injustices, dehumanization , degradation of our climate and environment.
It’s as if the world becomes like our own mind that is often filled with thoughts and voices and only practises like meditation, prayer, mindfulness allows us to clear the mind and be grounded in truth.
I think the news is disturbing, a few years ago I would often remark that something strange happens when you're away in that you tend to romanticise your home country and forget all the negatives. Recently, however, not sure if it's age and more awareness, but this no longer happens and news tends to be too disturbing to ignore.
